KATHMANDU: Nepal Foreign Trade Association (NFTA) has unveiled its golden jubilee logo to mark 50 years since its establishment. The organisation of import–export businesspeople has declared 2083 BS its golden jubilee year and is preparing a variety of commemorative programmes.
The logo was unveiled during an interaction programme on August 13. The unveiling was jointly conducted by Department of Customs Director Gyanendra Raj Dhakal; Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection directors Tara Nath Luitel and Anil Kirati; and Section Officer Deepak Prasad Adhikari. They were joined by former NFTA presidents Lokmanya Golchha, Ashok Kumar Agrawal and Sunil Kumar Bansal, alongside IP president Binod Kumar Sethia and current president Shiv Kumar Agrawal.
The event facilitated a direct exchange between NFTA members and government officials on policy and procedural issues within the import-export trade. Business representatives highlighted the challenges they face in their operations and presented suggestions for improvements to facilitate trade.
Responding to queries, officials from both departments said their core responsibilities are to facilitate trade and implement related laws, and that the genuine concerns raised by the business community will be addressed. The government officials also suggested that the NFTA regularly organise such discussion programmes in future, noting that open dialogue among stakeholders helps familiarise policy-making and implementation bodies with the practical difficulties faced by businesses and contributes to broader policy reform.
