Rain-induced disasters obstruct traffic in several districts

KATHMANDU: Vehicular movement in several districts has been obstructed by rain-induced disasters. Due to the disasters, authorities have suspended night-time traffic on some road sections for safety, the Nepal Police Headquarters said.

Roads in Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Rukum (West), Ilam, Nuwakot, Rolpa and Makawanpur districts were among those affected by heavy rain and associated landslides and mudslides.

The Mechi Highway in Ilam Municipality-9 is fully obstructed after a mudslide at Rajduwali. Meanwhile, travellers have been asked to use alternative routes.

The Araniko Highway is fully blocked following landslides at Kodari and Liping in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhupalchok district.

The Pasang Lhamu road section and the Trishuli–Mailung–Syaphrubesi road section are obstructed by landslides in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 and Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2 in Rasuwa district.

The Jajarkot–Dolpa road section is completely blocked after a landslide at Rijegard in Aathbiskot Municipality-6 in Rukum (West) district.

Traffic on Sahid Highway in Rolpa district was obstructed this morning after a landslide at the Landre area of Thawang Rural Municipality-2.
