KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary has called for improved access to financial services and clearer agricultural information for farmers.
Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the minister said literacy initiatives should use simple, farmer-friendly language so that basic issues in the agriculture sector are easily understood.
She also urged banks and financial institutions to create employment opportunities for young people who have studied agriculture. “An arrangement should be made to provide employment to youths who studied agriculture as a subject in banks and financial institutions,” she said.
Minister Chaudhary added that the problems faced by farmers must be addressed in the forthcoming policy.
