Rapid action teams intensify search and rescue in Rasuwa

KATHMANDU: High-level rapid action teams have intensified search and rescue operations in Rasuwa district after a devastating flood in Bhotekoshi River on Wednesday morning.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) formed specialised units immediately on receiving news of the disaster. Integrated rescue work has been underway since the morning, involving local, provincial and central government officials together with people's representatives.

Response efforts are being planned and executed using real‑time information gathered from communication channels and direct discussions with affected citizens and local representatives on the ground.

Hospitals across the affected districts have been placed on high alert in preparation for potential medical emergencies. Major health facilities in Kathmandu, including Bir Hospital, the National Trauma Centre, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and blood transfusion centres, are also on standby.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, the Home Secretary and heads of security agencies at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) received real‑time video updates from the affected sites. Security teams and health workers were subsequently mobilised to support the rescue operations.
