KATHMANDU: Ncell Foundation has announced financial support of Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following a devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River.

The financial support comes in response to an appeal by the government following Wednesday’s flooding, which caused significant loss of life and damage to property across riverside areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts.

Alongside the monetary contribution, the telecommunications company is assisting affected communities through its network. Ncell customers in the flood-hit areas have been provided with free voice and data services, as well as 100 free SMS valid for three days, effective from Wednesday.

This initiative aims to help affected residents remain connected with their families and loved ones, as well as with emergency personnel involved in rescue and relief operations.

The company expressed its heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives in the incident and extended sympathy to the bereaved families, while wishing for the swift rescue of missing persons and efficient relief management.

Ncell’s Corporate Communications, Marketing and Sustainability Director, Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, said, “Standing with the affected people during this difficult time is a shared responsibility for all of us. We have decided to provide Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. We would like to assure the affected families and communities that we stand with them during this difficult time.”

Ncell noted its support for disaster rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts over the years and reiterated its commitment to ongoing collaboration based on the needs of affected communities.
