KATHMANDU: Nepal Bankers' Association has expressed deep sorrow after floods and natural disasters in Rasuwa and other districts caused loss of life, property and physical infrastructure.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, the association paid tribute to those who lost their lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, wishing them strength and patience during this difficult period.

The association reported that most bank employees working in the flood-affected areas are safe, although contact has not yet been established with some staff. Several bank branches in the flood-hit districts have also suffered damage from flooding and inundation.

Ongoing disruptions to electricity, internet and communications services have presented significant challenges to maintaining regular banking operations. Despite these hurdles, member banks are utilising all available resources, tools and alternative arrangements to ensure service continuity and assist affected customers.

"Nepal's banking sector is fully committed to supporting the Government of Nepal's relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts in this difficult situation," the association said. "The banking sector will contribute as much as possible to provide necessary support to affected employees, their families and the general public."

The association said it is working in coordination with the Government of Nepal, Nepal Rastra Bank and relevant stakeholders, and pledged to maintain close collaboration with its member banks to facilitate rescue work, relief distribution, operational continuity and long-term rehabilitation across the affected regions.
