NCC hands over 17 surveillance drones to Nepal Police

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has handed over 17 surveillance drones to Nepal Police to speed up post-disaster work, including rescue, relief, and rehabilitation.

NCC Senior Vice President and Chairperson of NCC Disaster Management Council, Deepak Kumar Malhotra, delivered the drones to Police Headquarters on Friday. Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki, NCC Director-General Devendra Lamichhane and Senior Superintendent Damodar Kandel attended the handover.

Director-General Lamichhane said the drones will make search and rescue operations more precise and prompt in disaster-affected areas and help monitor flood-ravaged zones to identify conditions and coordinate rescue efforts.

NCC has already sent two drones to Bidur Municipality, one of which can lift 50 kg. The chamber also provided 125 power banks to charge communication devices in affected areas.

Businesspeople launched a relief collection and distribution drive for survivors and supplied cash and in-kind support to the worst-hit districts: Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
