CNI hands over Rs 52.91m to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund
KATHMANDU: Member institutions of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have handed over financial support totalling Rs 52,915,000 to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
A delegation led by CNI president Birendra Raj Pandey presented the cheque on Friday to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle. The contribution comprised donations from CNI member institutions and individual benefactors.
Former CNI president Vishnu Kumar Agarwal, of MAW Group, gave Rs 11.1 million, while industrialist Vijay Kumar Shah, a member of the CNI governing council, contributed Rs 10 million. Jawalakhel Distillery and Himalayan Distillery each provided Rs 10 million, and Himalayan Bullion Company donated Rs 10.1 million.
The CNI said Chaudhary Group and Nabil Bank have together provided more than Rs 150 million, and Nepal Aadarsha Nirman Company pledged Rs 1 million. Smaller contributions included Rs 221,000 from Good Home Products, Rs 210,000 from British Color Industries, Rs 112,000 from Langtang Ri Trekking, Rs 111,111 from Kas Trading, Rs 111,111 from Silver Lining, and Rs 50,000 from Glocal.
Earlier, in coordination with the CNI, Gorkha Brewery donated Rs 100 million to the relief fund.
Present at the handover were former President Satish Kumar More, Senior Vice President Nirvana Chaudhary, Vice President Raj Bahadur Shah, National Council members, representatives of the supporting organisations, and CNI Director General Dr Ghanashyam Ojha.
The CNI has urged its member institutions, industrialists and businesspeople to give maximum support to rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims of the Rasuwa floods.
