Shanker Group donates Rs 40 million to the Prime Minister Relief Fund

KATHMANDU: Shanker Group has donated Rs 40 million to the Prime Minister Relief Fund to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts for citizens affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.

Deepa Agrawal, director of Shanker Group, accompanied by members of the senior management team, presented the cheque to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle.

The contribution follows an earlier response by the organisation on the third day of the crisis. Working in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the group provided 2,500 tarpaulin tents, valued at Rs 2.5 million, through the Chief District Officer in Bhairahawa as temporary shelter for displaced citizens.

The corporate family expressed its deepest condolences to bereaved families, offering heartfelt sympathy to those who lost their lives and praying for the safe return of those who remain missing.

The group extended sincere gratitude and respect to emergency responders on the ground, acknowledging the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal (APF Nepal), Nepal Police, government officials and volunteers for their tireless dedication during rescue and relief operations.

Maintaining its stance on corporate responsibility during national emergencies, the organisation said, "Shanker Group has always believed that standing shoulder to shoulder with the government and citizens during times of national crisis is our responsibility. We reaffirm our commitment to continuing to fulfil this responsibility in the days ahead."
