KATHMANDU: Global mobility and delivery platform inDrive has contributed Rs 75 million (approximately $500,000) to Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support flood relief operations.

Representatives of inDrive Nepal handed over the contribution to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle in Kathmandu on Wednesday to assist the government’s ongoing relief, rehabilitation and recovery efforts.

The contribution comes in the wake of the Bhotekoshi flood of August 26, triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-China border. The disaster affected settlements across Rasuwa district and downstream areas, including parts of Nuwakot and Dhading. The flooding caused loss of life and damage to homes, schools, bridges, hydropower facilities and other critical infrastructure, while search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas.

Arsen Tomsky, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of inDrive, said, “The floods in Nepal have brought immense loss and hardship to families and communities across the country. Our thoughts are with everyone who has lost loved ones, homes or livelihoods. Nepal is an important part of the inDrive community, and we want to stand with the people of Nepal at this difficult time. We hope our contribution will help bring immediate support to those who need it most and help affected communities recover and rebuild.”

In addition to the donation to the relief fund, inDrive supplied relief materials to families in Bidur Municipality-9 of Nuwakot. The assistance included food, solar lights, induction stoves, blankets and sanitary pads to address immediate humanitarian needs.

The company also extended condolences to families who lost relatives in the Bhotekoshi disaster and expressed solidarity with thousands of people waiting for news of missing family members.

inDrive operates in more than 1,200 cities across 48 countries. Its mobile application has been downloaded over 400 million times. Alongside ride-hailing services, the company also offers intercity transport, delivery and financial services, and runs its venture arm, New Ventures, which was launched in 2023.
