Over 1,500 inDrive drivers complete Safe Driving Online Course in Nepal
KATHMANDU: More than 1,500 driver partners of global mobility platform inDrive have completed a new Safe Driving Online Course in Nepal.
The initiative is part of the company’s efforts to improve safety awareness, professional conduct and emergency preparedness among its local driver community. The mobile-friendly training programme takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and focuses on safe passenger interaction, road safety and emergency response. Drivers receive a digital certificate upon completion.
"Crossing 1,500 certified drivers is an important milestone for us," said Sunita Jeemi Rai, senior driver operations specialist at inDrive Nepal. "Drivers spend many hours on the road and face different situations every day, so having access to practical safety information is extremely important. Through this course, we want to help our driver partners feel more confident, aware and prepared while providing rides, not just in terms of what to pay attention to within the app, but also how they can carry out their daily work while staying 100% safe and alert."
Manjeeta Gurung, communications manager at inDrive Nepal, said the course had been kept simple and accessible so that drivers could complete it without taking much time away from work.
"The response we have received shows that practical and easy-to-understand safety training can make a meaningful difference," she said.
Bishal Pakhrin, an inDrive Moto driver partner, said, "As a moto driver, I spend most of my day on the road, so the course was a useful reminder of safety practices that we sometimes take for granted. I found the road safety, emergency response and SOS sections especially helpful, as they gave me a clearer understanding of what to do in unexpected situations."
Kamal Ghimere, an inDrive Cab driver partner, said, "The course helped me understand that safety is not only about driving carefully. How we communicate with passengers, maintain professional behaviour and handle different situations during a ride is equally important. The training was simple, practical and relevant to our everyday work."
The course is divided into three sections. The first covers on-platform safety and professional boundaries, including respectful passenger interactions and professional limits.
The second covers road safety for ride-hailing services, including defensive driving and situational awareness in heavy traffic or unfamiliar areas. The final section covers emergency response, including the use of the in-app SOS feature and official reporting channels.
The inDrive platform has been downloaded more than 400 million times globally and operates in more than 1,200 cities across 48 countries. It provides ride-hailing, intercity transport, delivery and financial services.
