KATHMANDU: eSewa, Nepal's leading digital payment service provider, has launched a campaign titled 'Antai Bhaye Pani Aafanta Ko Najik' to link international remittances directly with daily digital transactions.

Through the company's authorised remittance partners, overseas workers can send money directly to a family member's eSewa account. Upon receipt, these funds can be immediately utilised for everyday digital payments, including settling electricity and water bills, telephone and internet charges, insurance premiums, and school fees.

By enabling direct-to-wallet transfers, eSewa intends to simplify how families manage their remittance income. Recipients can handle regular household expenses directly from their mobile devices, eliminating the need to physically withdraw cash from a bank or local agent.

The initiative focuses on allowing funds sent by Nepalis working abroad to be deposited straight into the eSewa wallets of their relatives back home. The overarching goal is to strengthen the connection between expatriates and their families by offering a more convenient method to access funds, whilst promoting the use of formal, secure channels for international money transfers.

The campaign highlights the role these funds play in keeping overseas workers involved in their families' daily lives, while encouraging the diaspora to rely on official financial channels. By linking international inflows directly to digital payments, the initiative supports wider participation in Nepal's formal digital financial ecosystem and improves overall access to modern financial tools for Nepali households.
