KATHMANDU: CSIT Association of Nepal (CSITAN) organised a two-day 'Prabidhi Mela' (Technology Fair) focused on career and innovation at Lord Buddha Education Foundation (LBEF) in Maitidevi, Kathmandu.
The organisers announced that the total prize pool for five competitions at the fair — Creative Clash, Build Battle, Capture the Flag (CTF), Clash Royale and eFootball — is Rs 267,000, including in-kind prizes. The contests are expected to provide a platform for participants to display their creativity, technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities and teamwork.
During the opening of the fair on Saturday, CSITAN stated that the event was put together with the objective of bringing technology, career and innovation onto a single platform.
Earlier, at the opening session, LBEF Chairman Er Pankaj Jalan stated that the event was organised to make the country tech-friendly and to make students employable within Nepal. He informed attendees that the fair aimed to enhance collaboration among students, IT entrepreneurs, parents and the community, connect skills with opportunities and prepare a competent workforce for the digital future of the nation.
Jalan stated that the time has come to achieve economic progress by exporting Nepal's technology abroad, noting that a workforce aligned with this requirement is a necessity today. Chairman Jalan mentioned that IT education aligned with market demand is now an essential requirement.
LBEF College, recognised as the first IT college in Nepal, noted that students, youth, technology professionals, entrepreneurs and employers participated in the fair. Participants received opportunities for career guidance, innovative idea presentations, interactions with mentors, technical creations and networking.
