KATHMANDU: Domestic airline companies have agreed to sell and distribute air tickets below the approved fare. The agreement followed intervention by Prime Minister Balendra Shah and an initiative from Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadak Raj Paudel.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) convened a meeting on Thursday with office-bearers and representatives of domestic airlines, which resulted in the decision to reduce ticket prices, CAAN said.

CAAN Director General Mukesh Dangol said the companies would issue notices setting out the revised ticket prices. The prime minister raised the issue after complaints that carriers had increased fares during the festival season.
