KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Acting President Deepak Kumar Malhotra has urged immediate focus on branding, quality control, and legal reforms to establish Nepali products in global markets.

Speaking at the release of the research report 'Nepali Brand Architecture, 2083', Malhotra noted that despite their high quality, domestic goods fail to build an identity locally and internationally due to ineffective branding and weak legal protection against duplicate products.

"There are goods in Nepal with immense potential. Even products like chhurpi, turmeric, and black cardamom have not been effectively branded," Malhotra said, stressing the need for appropriate laws and rapid implementation.

He argued that long-standing national debates on boosting production and reducing imports are incomplete without equal attention to market expansion and consumer trust.

"Despite Nepali products being good, the identity of Nepali brands in the international market is relatively weak," he added. "To build a strong identity for 'Made in Nepal' globally, collaboration among the government, private sector, and media is necessary."

Malhotra called on the government to ensure stable policies, investment-friendly laws, and infrastructure, while urging the private sector to enhance innovation and competitiveness to help domestic brands compete regionally and globally.
