KABUL: Private-sector delegates from Afghanistan and Iran have formalised 11 trade memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with a combined value of $451.8 million, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced in a statement on Saturday evening.

The agreements were concluded on the sidelines of a major trade exhibition and encompass strategic sectors including construction, energy, mining, technology, telecommunications and food supplies.

A total of 323 domestic and foreign companies, among them Iranian firms, presented their products across approximately 700 booths during the six-day exhibition, which ran from Wednesday to Monday.

Afghan authorities have renewed their call for expanded investment from both local and international organisations to address the nation's economic challenges and generate sustainable employment opportunities.
