KATHMANDU: The Circle of EU Youth Alumni in Nepal held its Second EU Youth Alumni Meetup and Consultation in Kathmandu on Friday. The event brought together 40 alumni aged 18–30 who had taken part in EU-funded programmes to discuss the network’s future.

Organised by the Core Alumni Group of The Circle with support from the European Union, the meetup provided a forum for participants to reconnect, exchange views and help shape the network’s direction. The Core Alumni Group currently has 15 members drawn from the registered alumni and is open to others wishing to contribute actively.

A central element of the meetup was a structured consultation to gather alumni views and identify priorities. Participants split into six groups to discuss themes including Identity & Connection; Engagement; Growth & Ownership; The Future; Sustainability; and Engagement, Honesty & Continuity. Delegates then voted on the ideas they regarded as most important to take forward.

“The consultation brought new and fresh ideas that look extremely promising. Moving forward, our focus is on provincial-level engagement,” said Aagya Shrestha, a member of the Core Alumni Group of The Circle.

The Core Alumni Group will compile the ideas, concerns and priorities raised into a report to inform further discussions on the network’s direction and to contribute to the development of Nepal’s Country Action Plan.

Launched by the European Union in January 2025 under the EU Youth Action Plan 2022–2027, The Circle is a global community linking young people who have participated in EU-funded youth initiatives. Nepal participates as part of the Asia-Pacific region.

The Circle of EU Youth Alumni of Nepal aims to provide a platform for former participants of EU-funded programmes to connect, collaborate and contribute to youth-led initiatives, strengthening alumni links and creating opportunities for young people across Nepal.
