KATHMANDU: Dhak Nath Kafle has been elected president of the Tourist Bus Association of Nepal (TBAN) at the association’s 15th annual general meeting on Friday.

A new executive committee led by Kafle was chosen during the AGM and eighth election. Sushil Dahal, coordinator of the election committee, announced the other office-bearers: Sujan Acharya as first vice president, Chiranjibi Giri as second vice president and Ashok Aryal as secretary general. Sujan Dahal was elected treasurer, while Ramesh Paudel and Chabilal Ghimire were picked as committee members.

Kafle brings two decades of experience in Nepal’s tourism sector, having previously served as vice president of TBAN and as joint treasurer on the central committee of Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA).

Outgoing TBAN President Bhishma Prasad Neupane voiced frustration at delays in infrastructure projects. He said, "Although TBAN has been raising the issue of a tourist bus park for a long time, that matter has not been fulfilled."
