GULMI: Air services resumed at Resunga airport in Gulmi district on Tuesday after roughly four months of disruption caused by adverse weather.

Station chief Suman Thapa said flights were disrupted from the first week of June and the service was suspended because of heavy fog, strong winds and related weather conditions.

A Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft carrying 13 passengers from Kathmandu landed at Resunga this morning and later returned to Kathmandu with two passengers on board.

With improving weather, NAC has introduced a new timetable to operate flights three times a week. The airline has been using an 18-seat Twin Otter for the Kathmandu–Gulmi route and has revised its schedule from today.

Under the revised timetable, a Twin Otter will depart Kathmandu for Resunga at 7:15 am and return from Resunga to Kathmandu at 8:15 am on Sundays and Tuesdays. On Fridays, the aircraft will leave Kathmandu at 06:20 and depart Resunga for Kathmandu at 7:20 am.

NAC has set the fare at Rs 10,710 per person from Kathmandu to Gulmi and Rs 10,510 from Gulmi to Kathmandu.

Local residents, including elderly people, patients and those with essential business in Kathmandu, had been particularly affected by the prolonged suspension of air services.
