LALITPUR: Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (FWEAN) will extend its 'Ma Udhyami' (I Am an Entrepreneur) trademark campaign nationwide to give products made by women national recognition and broaden their market access.
At a press conference in Lalitpur on Friday, FWEAN President Darshana Shrestha said the collective trademark initiative seeks to raise the profile of goods produced by women entrepreneurs and help them reach new customers.
Shrestha said the trademark would help consumers identify products made by women, increase trust and boost visibility and business prospects. She added that the campaign, carried forward under the slogan 'Her Identity, Her Enterprise', will link women entrepreneurs and their products under a common mark.
"High-quality production alone is not enough; the product must build its own identity, earn the consumer's trust, and achieve a distinctive place in the market," Shrestha said.
Shrestha said that although products and services from Nepali women reflect local skills, culture, originality, hard work and creativity, many have yet to secure the recognition and opportunities they deserve in the marketplace.
She said that during a meeting with the Prime Minister the campaign drew special interest and that the Prime Minister had pledged support to develop it into a national initiative.
FWEAN said it is working through women entrepreneurs’ associations in all seven provinces and districts to strengthen capacities, press for supportive policies, expand access to finance and markets, and build business networks.
