KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has estimated that peak electricity demand on Laxmi Puja this year will reach around 1,700 megawatts (MW). The authority said domestic power generation will remain sufficient to meet the expected load.
The NEA said it would ensure an adequate power supply during the festival. NEA Executive Director Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha said domestic electricity generation will be sufficient to meet the expected demand on Laxmi Puja.
According to the NEA, power generation during the period is projected to reach around 2,500 MW. Shrestha said electricity supply would remain smooth as domestic generation is expected to exceed demand.
The NEA has made special preparations to ensure reliable, regular and quality electricity supply during the Tihar and Chhath festivals.
Shrestha said chiefs of all concerned offices have been directed to make the necessary arrangements to prevent disruptions to power supply during the festive period.
The NEA has also instructed office heads to respond promptly to calls received through its power outage complaint service and address consumers' concerns related to electricity supply.
