‘Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal’ programme launched

KATHMANDU: A programme titled 'Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal' has been launched at the joint collaboration of the Government of Nepal, United Nations and the European Union. The four-year programme was launched amid a special function organised in Patan, Lalitpur on Tuesday. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Bhagawati Chaudhary; Director of European Union's International Partnerships, Peteris Ustubs; and UNICEF Representatives for Nepal, Elke Wisch, jointly launched the programme. The programme with funding of $19.5 million will be implemented with the partnership of federal, provincial and local governments. The programme aims to forward gender equality, empower women and fulfil the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.  The programme will be implemented in Karnali, Madhes and Sudurpaschim provinces. On behalf of the government, Minister Chaudhary expressed commitment to implementing the programme and said sustainable development is not possible without women's empowerment. By RSS READ ALSO:
