Namaste Pay joins Fonepay’s interoperable payment ecosystem

KATHMANDU: Fonepay, Nepal’s leading payment network, has announced the onboarding of Namaste Pay in Fonepay’s interoperable payment ecosystem enabling easy QR payment transactions. Chief Executive Officer of Fonepay, Diwas  Kumar Sapkota and Chief Executive Officer of Namaste Pay, Prabin Raj Pokharel signed the agreement in an event in the presence of representatives of Fonepay and Namastepay and mediapersons. With this integration, all users of Namaste Pay — Nepal’s first government-owned digital wallet —  can instantly make affordable, convenient, and secure QR transactions throughout the Fonepay Network with more than 1.2 million merchants across Nepal. Speaking on the announcement, Fonepay CEO Sapkota said, “We are delighted to welcome Namaste Pay into our growing payment ecosystem. This partnership aligns with our vision to provide a comprehensive digital payment experience to our users. By integrating Namaste Pay, we offer our customers a wider range of payment options and foster a more inclusive financial ecosystem." Similarly, Namaste Pay CEO Pokharel said, "We are extremely happy to join hands with Fonepay and enable Namaste Pay users with access to 1.2 million Fonepay Merchants throughout the country. Namaste Pay users can also benefit from other Fonepay services with this partnership. We also look forward to making our customers’ digital journey smooth with our innovations and value-added services" Fonepay is a Payment System Operator facilitating inter-bank person-to-person (P2P) and person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions through its interoperable network and mobile platforms. Fonepay is regulated by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and was the first mobile payment network to be licensed by NRB as Payment System Operator (PSO). Fonepay is also Nepal’s first non-card-based PSO to achieve PCI DSS Certification. Namaste Pay is a Payment Service Provider authorised by NRB and jointly promoted by Nepal Telecom and Rastriya Banijya Bank and is headquartered in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. READ ALSO:
