KATHMANDU: DECC Nepal has organised the 14th edition of Teej Mela, a fair targeting women who do shopping in preparation for celebrating Haritalika Teej festival, at United World Trade Center in Tripureshwor Kathmandu.

Ama Foundation President Tara Devi Gurung inaugurated the fair that started on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the fair, Gurung said the participation of women in the enterprise business is on the rise, and opined that fairs like Teej Mela will help those women entrepreneurs.

More than 100 stalls have been set up at the fair. Smriti Shrestha, Marketing Manager, DECC Nepal, said the fair has been organised for Teej shoppers who can buy all items needed during the festival under one roof at a cheap price.

Businesspersons and enterprises from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries have set up stalls at the fair. Cosmetic items, bangles and other materials for women can be purchased at the fair.

Discounts have been offered on various items being sold at the fair while the restaurants at the trade centre have also offered discounts for the fair visitors.

The fair is open for visitors from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The organisers expect more than 20,000 visitors at the fair this year.

Teej Mela has been organised every year prior to the Teej festival for the past 13 years.

The five-day fair will conclude on Sunday.
