CACN draws government’s attention to controlling inflation

A A- A+
KATHMANDU: The Consumer Awareness Campaign Nepal (CACN), an organisation working in the consumer's rights sector, has called the attention of the government on controlling the spiralling inflation. The CACN office-holders on Thursday met with Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and the officials of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection in this connection. A delegation led by the CACN president Krishna Prasad Bhandari Marseli submitted a memorandum drawing the government's attention to immediately checking market price rise. The memorandum states that unfair business practices such as cartels, monopoly and unlawful activities have been taking place in the market. It also points out that the market monitoring was also not meaningful and effective. The memorandum suggests adopting a policy of market intervention and supplying the daily essential commodities through the Food Management & Trading Company and Salt Trading Corporation to ease the supply system and control the market prices. It has also called on the Supplies Ministry to analyse the price of goods based on the price at the customs gate and at industry gate. (with inputs from RSS) READ ALSO:
