KATHMANDU: Sujal Foods has launched Chocofun Joy, Nepal’s first square-moulded chocolate offered at an affordable price, aiming to reduce reliance on imported chocolates and give consumers a locally made option.
Chocofun Joy has a square shape with a debossed 'J' at the centre and is packaged in a pink-and-purple jar with gold lettering. Each jar contains 70 pieces, each weighing 8 grams, and individual pieces are priced at Rs 10.
Sujal Foods has said the chocolate is made from a blend of cocoa and butter using modern manufacturing technology under strict hygienic conditions. The firm highlighted the product’s rich taste and said it was developed to deliver consistent quality at a low price point.
The launch adds to Sujal Foods’ existing confectionery range. The ISO 22000:2018 certified company, in operation since 1973 and a subsidiary of Laxmi Group, is one of Nepal’s largest manufacturers and marketers of sweets and snacks.
Sujal Foods produces wafers, lollipops, toffees, candies, bubble gum, stick gum, chocolate and jelly. Its brand portfolio includes Chocofun, Chocofun BigFun, Crave, Rasilo, Fresho, Candyman and Lovebirds, which the company says have been favourites of Nepali consumers for many years.
