Death toll from disasters reaches 132; rescue operations ongoing

KATHMANDU: The death toll from floods, landslides, and other natural disasters has risen to 132, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).  

The fatalities include 68 in Kathmandu Valley, 45 in Bagmati Province, 17 in Koshi Province, and two in Madhes Province. Additionally, 64 individuals are missing, and 61 have sustained injuries.

A total of 3,626 people have been rescued nationwide with the active participation of security forces. In Kavrepalanchok district alone, 193 individuals at risk have been airlifted by Nepali Army helicopters since this morning. The Nepali Army has been mobilised for two days to rescue citizens at high risk.

MoHA spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari stated that all resources have been deployed to clear highways damaged by the disasters. Security forces are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations, transporting the injured to hospitals for treatment.
