MUSTANG: Various stakeholders have stressed the need to develop the Muktinath area as a comprehensive religious tourism site.
Mustang’s Chief District Officer (CDO), Bishnu Prasad Bhusal, stated that initiatives will be undertaken to extend the stay of tourists visiting Muktinath Temple.
An 11-member team, led by CDO Bhusal, visited the Muktinath area on Saturday to explore opportunities for promoting religious tourism.
According to CDO Bhusal, a trekking route should be constructed at a distance of approximately four kilometres in the Muktinath area to connect it with three religious heritage sites.
“The Muktinath Development Committee, along with local residents, will lead the construction of the trekking route,” he said.
The team conducted a preliminary feasibility study aimed at linking alternative religious heritage sites with tourism.
