KATHMANDU: Nepalese Youth Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF) Kathmandu Chapter hosted the Third Entrepreneurship Conclave in Kathmandu.

The event held on Thursday brought together global figures and Nepal’s leading tourism and investment stakeholders to discuss the country’s role in the global entrepreneurial landscape.

The event was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, a Qatari-Emirati royal, adventurer, and entrepreneur, who shared his life story. As the first Qatari to summit Mount Everest, complete the Seven Summits, and ski to the South Pole, he conveyed the message that pursuing one’s dreams is worthwhile.

Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), attended as a special guest and stated that NTB was pleased to support the event. He also reaffirmed NTB’s commitment to working with NYEF to promote innovation and growth in Nepal’s tourism sector.

Panel discussions featured representatives from NTB, Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), and other industry leaders.

The discussions focused on three key themes: hospitality standards, cross-border connectivity, and foreign direct investment in tourism.

Panellists highlighted the need to improve Nepal’s hospitality sector to align with global expectations while maintaining its cultural identity. They emphasised the importance of incorporating Nepali art, design, and warmth into hotels for differentiation.

Connectivity discussions stressed the need for improved infrastructure, regional cooperation, and unified marketing. Panellists agreed that Nepal must welcome tourists and ensure ease of travel and exploration.

The FDI panel discussed regulatory obstacles and investor concerns while also expressing optimism. Panellists noted that with improved policy frameworks and transparent processes, Nepal could attract global investors interested in developing high-value tourism assets based on authenticity and sustainability.

The conclave concluded with remarks from Abhimanyu Golchha, President of NYEF Kathmandu Chapter, who reiterated NYEF Kathmandu’s commitment to facilitating dialogue, action, and partnerships to position Nepal as a hub for tourism, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
