EU delivers 67 tonnes of disaster relief supplies to Nepal

KATHMANDU: The European Union has delivered 67 tonnes of essential disaster relief materials to Nepal following direct appeals for assistance from the Government of Nepal.

The supplies were handed over on Thursday to Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun. EU Ambassador-Designate Charles Whiteley and Benjamin Seidel, Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy, presented the aid.

The relief package consists of 61 tonnes of supplies provided by Germany and six tonnes contributed by Luxembourg, mobilised and dispatched through the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union.

Authorities indicated that additional flights carrying further relief provisions are expected to arrive shortly to continue supporting the country.
