KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has congratulated Dr Biswo Nath Poudel, the newly appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), for a successful tenure.
A delegation led by NCC Acting President Deepak Kumar Malhotra visited the NRB central office in Baluwatar, Kathmandu today to extend its felicitations. In a press statement, the NCC said, "As an individual knowledgeable and experienced in the financial and economic sectors, your contribution to the country's economic policy formulation and promotion of financial good governance has been remarkable. We view your appointment to the post of NRB Governor as a significant step towards achieving long-term reform and stability in the financial sector."
Malhotra emphasised that Governor Poudel's role will be crucial in stimulating the economy through effective coordination between the budget and monetary policy. The NCC urged the new governor to prioritise national issues such as economic development, inflation control, strengthening foreign exchange reserves, and enhancing financial access and inclusion.
The organisation also called on the NRB to promote a digital financial system and boost credit flow to support the private sector, which has suffered under restrictive policies over the past four years, and demanded the abolition of the Working Capital Loans Guidelines.
