KATHMANDU: Private sector has welcomed the budget unveiled by the government for the fiscal year 2025/26 during a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday. Business entities added that the issues addressed by the budget were commendable.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal remarked, "The budget is encouraging for private businesses. The issues recommended by the FNCCI – such as the promotion of investment, mining operations and exports – have been included in the budget." He further stated that it was a welcome move to empower Investment Board Nepal.

Likewise, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal noted that the suggestions furnished by the NCC to the government were incorporated in the budget. "I consider this budget to be ambitious. However, most of the points contributed by the business entities have been included. Both the suggestions and demands are present in the budget, so the allocation system is impressive despite the current challenges. Even the revenue projections appear sound," he analysed.

Moreover, NCC Senior Vice President Deepak Kumar Malhotra lauded the budget, adding that the suggestions raised by the private sector were included.

NCC Lumbini Province President Tanka Prasad Pokhrel observed that the demands of the private sector were duly heard in the budget presented at such a time of pressure. "The private sector is spirited; the budget is positive and it has emphasised entrepreneurship," he commented.

Former NCC President Rajendra Malla said it was good that the IT sector had been addressed in the budget.
