
KATHMANDU: The government has allocated the highest budget to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.
In the budget unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel on Thursday, the government has allocated Rs 211.17 billion, which includes the budgets for different academic institutions, the salaries of school teachers and officials, the cost of mid-day meals for students and several other headings.
Likewise, Rs 152 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) for the implementation of major infrastructure-related projects across the country.
Similarly, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has been allocated Rs 118.34 billion, and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has been allocated Rs 95.81 billion.
Other ministries receiving a hefty amount of budget for project implementation in the upcoming fiscal year include the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), the Ministry of Water Supply (MoWS) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD).
