KATHMANDU: Discussions have taken place between Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and University of Nepal (UoN) regarding cooperation in the development and research of Nepal's educational sector. The talks were held at the FNCCI Secretariat on Friday.

During the meeting, topics discussed included the provision of practical knowledge, skill development and employment opportunities for students, as well as the production of skilled human resources in line with the needs of industries and businesses. FNCCI and UoN reached an understanding to further discuss the possibilities of curriculum development, training programmes and joint projects.

At the meeting, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the collaboration would help bridge the gap between the private sector and educational institutions. "This cooperation will be fruitful in producing skilled human resources desired by industries and businesses and in providing employment opportunities for youth. We are positive about such cooperation," Dhakal said.

UoN Chancellor Dr Bindu Nath Lohani said that the cooperation would play a significant role in connecting Nepal's education system with the global market. "Our goal is to provide students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills and an entrepreneurial spirit. We believe that cooperation with FNCCI will greatly contribute to achieving that goal," Lohani said.

Similarly, UoN Vice Chancellor Dr Arjun Karki said that producing skilled, efficient and quality human resources is UoN's main objective and stated that cooperation with FNCCI was essential for that.

Both sides emphasised that they could cooperate on matters such as joint research and innovation, entrepreneurship development, student internships and the creation of employment opportunities.
