Gham Power wins 2025 Keeling Curve Prize for solar energy innovation

KATHMANDU: Gham Power has been named as one of 10 global winners of the 2025 Keeling Curve Prize, a prestigious international award that honours high-impact solutions for mitigating climate change.

The prize acknowledges the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance climate resilience across Nepal through clean, distributed solar-energy solutions that empower rural communities and industry.

The announcement was made at the TED Countdown Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, where global leaders and innovators gathered to share groundbreaking ideas to combat climate change. Selected in the Energy category, Gham Power was awarded $50,000 to expand its solar-powered initiatives that help underserved areas in Nepal gain access to reliable, affordable electricity, reduce carbon emissions and replace polluting fuel sources such as diesel.

Chosen from more than 2,500 global applicants, the company stood out for its innovative model that combines solar technology with financing tools to make clean energy accessible to those who need it most.

With over 4,000 completed projects, Gham Power continues to pioneer sustainable energy solutions that power homes and businesses while also strengthening food systems, health services and climate resilience in Nepal’s most vulnerable regions.

This recognition marks a milestone in Nepal’s clean-energy journey, highlighting Gham Power’s role as a global leader in climate resilience and sustainable solutions. As climate risks intensify, the company remains committed to delivering innovative, community-focused strategies to drive progress and steer Nepal towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.
