CNI inaugurates Sudurpashchim Province office, installs new executive committee

KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Sudurpashchim Province office was inaugurated and a new executive committee installed on Friday.

Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province Kamal Bahadur Shah and CNI President Rajesh Agrawal officiated at the ceremony in Dhangadhi.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Shah said the provincial government was working to create an investment-friendly environment. He announced plans to hold an investment summit and has initiated the necessary procedures to foster such an atmosphere. He also highlighted the province’s numerous investment opportunities and expressed readiness to collaborate with the private sector to attract investors.

Chief Minister Shah committed to cooperating with CNI’s proposal to establish an incubation centre to support young entrepreneurs in the province.

Agrawal said CNI had long worked for the country’s economic development and was committed to partnering with the provincial government. He expressed confidence that CNI Sudurpashchim Province would vigorously promote domestic industries, industry-friendly policies and regulations, and the rights and interests of industrialists and entrepreneurs.

CNI Vice President Bhim Ghimire said he was confident the provincial body would succeed in providing evidence-based policy suggestions to support local industrialists and entrepreneurs.

Raman Chandra Shrestha, President of CNI Sudurpashchim Province, pledged to work closely with the provincial government on economic development.

The 11-member executive committee under Shrestha’s leadership comprises Tej Shanka Bhatta as senior vice president; Sunita Suri and Sunil Shrestha as vice presidents; and Lal Bahadur Shahi as treasurer. Other members are Hira Bhandari, Jagdish Chandra Bhatta, Kalendra Shahi, Deep Rawat, Hemant Poudel and Dilli Raj Joshi.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shah held discussions with CNI on the upcoming investment summit. In a meeting at the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office in Dhangadhi, he described the province as fertile ground for investment and urged CNI to help attract investors.

CNI President Agrawal said he was confident the summit would successfully showcase investment opportunities in the province and pledged CNI’s full cooperation.

The meeting was attended by CNI Vice President Bhim Ghimire; CNI Sudurpashchim Province President Shrestha; chief secretary and secretaries of the provincial government; and CNI Director General Ghanashyam Ojha, among others.
