SEVILLE, SPAIN: The Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) opened today at the FIBES Sevilla Exhibition and Conference Centre.

More than 70 heads of state and government, including Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, are attending the summit, which will run until July 3, 2025.

The opening ceremony at the Exhibition and Congress Palace within FIBES Sevilla was presided over by King Felipe VI of Spain, President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

Prime Minister Oli’s delegation includes his spouse Radhika Shakya; chief adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal; Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai; Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Lok Bahadur Thapa; and other senior officials. His participation follows invitations from UN Secretary-General Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

FFD4 brings together government leaders, multilateral and regional organisations, financial and business institutions, civil society groups and UN representatives. Delegates will review investment commitments made by developed nations to poorer and smaller countries, and discuss development assistance, finance for development, technology transfer and reform of the international financial architecture.

The summit provides a platform for advancing international cooperation to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
