Govt forms Debt Recovery Tribunal under chairmanship of Basnet

KATHMANDU: The government has approved the formation of a Debt Recovery Tribunal under the chairmanship of Kriti Bahadur Basnet, Under-Secretary of the Supreme Court, with Basant Raj Puri of Dhankuta and Govinda Sharma Gaire of Tanahun as members. It has also agreed a temporary quota of three officer-level posts for the tribunal in fiscal year 2024/25.

Announcing cabinet decisions of June 27, Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Government spokesman Prithvi Subba Gurung said the government will grant Rs 500,000 in compassionate relief to the family of Akub Ahmed of Duduwa Rural Municipality, Banke district.

The cabinet appointed former secretary Raghuram Bista as chairperson of the Public Procurement Decision Briefing Committee, with former joint secretaries Rohit Kumar Bisural and Thaneshwor Gautam as members. It approved principles for drafting bills on Foreign Exchange (Regulation and Systematisation) and on Property Management.

Permission has been granted for the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development to attend the High-Level Interregional Knowledge Exchange on One Country One Priority Project (OCOP) Models in Hanoi, Vietnam, from July 14 to 17.

The government authorised the signing of the Prime Ministerial Commitment: A National Transformation in and through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, aimed at converting progress in the drinking water and sanitation sector into sustainable impact. Likewise, the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation may attend the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris.

Other decisions include appointing Ram Sharan Pudasaini as executive director of Nepal Administrative Staff College; designating Asoj 15 as National Film Day; signing a memorandum of understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medicine between the governments of Nepal and India; approving the National Tourism Policy, 2082; and authorising foreign visits by the secretaries of the ministries of Water Supply; Physical Infrastructure and Transport; Communications and Information Technology; and Health and Population.
