
BIRGUNJ, PARSA: Goods worth Rs 434.26 billion have entered Nepal via the Birgunj border checkpoint from India in the first 11 months of current fiscal year 2024/25.
Imports from India accounted for 76.80% of total imports through Birgunj, according to Deepak Lamichhane, Chief Customs Administrator at the Birgunj Customs Office. Argentina ranked second at Rs 46.74 billion, or 8.27%, followed by China at Rs 28.86 billion, or 5.10%.
Overall, imports from 50 countries via Birgunj amounted to Rs 565.42 billion during the same period.
Exports through Birgunj totalled Rs 91.51 billion, of which Rs 86.97 billion, or 95.05%, went to India. America was the second‐largest export market, with Rs 2.18 billion, or 2.38%, followed by Afghanistan at Rs 680 million, or 0.74%.
