KATHMANDU: Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm in Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok district, has been awarded the Travelife Certification for Accommodation Sustainability by Travelife UK.

The eco-friendly resort opened in May 2025 under a rigorous sustainability work plan aligned with UNWTO and GSTC standards. Auditors visited on May 31 and, following a formal award ceremony at the National Tourism Board Hall on June 24, Travelife UK presented the certification on July 8.
Arun Shrestha, Founder and Managing Director of Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm, said, “This accolade marks our compliance with 143 GSTC and UNWTO criteria. It belongs not just to our resort but to every guest, partner, farmer and community member who believes in the power of tourism that uplifts, heals and inspires.”
Binayak Shah, President of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), described the recognition as “a boost for eco-tourism and a testament to the future of green tourism”.
Sunil Sharma, public relations officiating director at the National Tourism Board, said, “International certifications promote sustainable practices in tourism. Sustainable tourism is only possible with the participation of local communities.”

The event highlighted Prakriti Resort & Organic Farm’s commitment to responsible hospitality, environmental stewardship and community empowerment. For the resort, the certification is the beginning of its journey towards truly regenerative, eco-conscious tourism.
