KATHMANDU: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) held discussions with former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

During the meeting with CNI officials led by newly elected President Birendra Raj Pandey, former Prime Minister Deuba congratulated the newly elected executive committee members and wished them a successful tenure. On the occasion, Deuba said that the Nepali Congress, a proponent of the open market economy, has consistently emphasised the development of the private sector.

He added that preliminary studies have identified eight key sectors on which to focus and that a comprehensive study is now under way. He stated that CNI will prepare clear recommendations on the level of investment required in each sector and on the necessary legal and policy reforms to achieve this goal.
