
KATHMANDU: Trading session on Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a double-digit fall today, with turnover surpassing Rs 26.57 billion.
The index dropped 0.61% (18.44 points) to close at 2,964.20. Across 203,658 transactions, 58,653,762 shares of 323 companies changed hands.
Turnover was the highest in nearly 11 months. The Development Bank Index rose 1.23%, Manufacturing and Processing Index 0.08%, Mutual Fund Index 0.39% and Trading Index 1.44%, while all other sector indices declined.
The Banking Index fell 0.71%, the Finance Index 1.99%, the Hotels and Tourism Index 1.79%, the Hydropower Index 0.09%, the Investment Index 1.66%, the Life Insurance Index 1.35%, the Non-Life Insurance Index 0.67% and Other Indices 0.86%.
Shares of Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha (SMATA) hit the 10% positive-circuit limit, while Narayani Development Bank (NABBC) posted the steepest drop at 6.34%. In terms of value, Shivam Cements (SHIVM) led the day with Rs 1.02 billion traded.
