KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari today said that preparations are underway for high-level talks to resolve trade sector issues during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to India.
At a programme organised by the Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) to mark the 31st Cargo Day in Kathmandu, Minister Bhandari said the ministry’s schedule has been set to brief the Prime Minister on resolving trade problems. He added that trade promotion would also be discussed during the visit.
The Commerce Minister pledged that the government would work to resolve trade issues between Nepal’s primary markets and its neighbouring countries, India and China.
He said his ministry is initiating efforts to enhance trade with both countries, noting that trade is not just about purchasing goods but also about creating an environment to increase sales by exporting domestic products abroad.
Financial Comptroller General Shova Kanta Poudel, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) President Birendra Raj Pandey, and Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) President Rajendra Sangraula, among others, emphasised that Nepal should promote its trade with other countries.
