PM Oli to leave for Turkmenistan on Sunday to attend UN landlocked nations conference

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to leave for Turkmenistan on August 3 to lead a Nepali delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.

The conference will take place in Awaza from August 5 to 8.

At the invitation of Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, and António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, the Prime Minister will address the conference as chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries and in his national capacity, MoFA added.

Oli will co-chair a high-level roundtable and participate in other scheduled events.

On the margins of the conference, Prime Minister Oli is due to meet heads of delegations and senior dignitaries from the UN and other international organisations.

PM Oli will be accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya; his Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal; Federal MP Surya Bahadur Thapa Kshetree; and other senior officials.

The prime minister is expected to return home on August 8.
