KATHMANDU: Ministry of Finance (MoF) has begun discussions with line ministries to implement the budget for the current fiscal year 2025/26, the secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel said on Sunday.
A meeting on budget implementation was held on Sunday with the Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS).
The meeting focused on initiating the necessary legal, procedural and practical preparations for implementing the ministry-specific plans and programmes included in this year’s budget. The MoICS allocation includes provisions to protect traditional skills, arts and professions, thereby creating employment and income opportunities. This will be achieved through the Bhagat Sarvajit Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which involves the transfer of modern technology, provision of training and the linking of products to markets.
The meeting also addressed pollution control in the capital by relocating industries operating in the Kathmandu Valley to industrial areas outside the valley and offering special concessions to those that relocate.
Likewise, discussions were held on establishing an international-standard quality laboratory in Nepal, to be recognised by the international community, including India and China. Attendees also explored plans for modern industrial areas in Mayurdhap, Makawanpur district and Shaktikhor in Chitwan district.
Deputy Prime Minister Paudel, Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari, Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Industry Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire and other officials attended the meeting.
The MoF has prepared to hold sequential discussions with all line ministries and departments to ensure the implementation of the current fiscal year’s budget.
