KATHMANDU: Bajaj Auto, the world’s most valuable two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer, on Sunday launched its cutting-edge electric scooter, the Chetak 3501, in Nepal. This marks the first international debut of Chetak’s next-generation model and underlines Bajaj Auto’s commitment to clean, sustainable mobility worldwide.
The Chetak 3501 is powered by a 3.5 kWh battery that delivers an impressive range of 153 km on a single charge. Its fast-charge capability restores battery capacity from zero to 80% in just three hours, minimising downtime and maximising daily riding convenience for urban and suburban commuters.
Built with a full-metal body and rated IP67 for water resistance, the scooter is designed to withstand Nepal’s unpredictable weather. A new floorboard-integrated battery layout allows for 35 litres of under-seat storage—the largest in its segment—providing riders with ample space for essentials without compromising comfort.
An optional TecPac accessory unlocks a suite of intelligent features, including a smart TFT touchscreen console with built-in navigation, music control, document storage and call-handling functions. TecPac also incorporates advanced safety technologies such as remote immobilisation, guide-me-home lights, geo-fencing, anti-theft protection and automatic accident detection.
Manish Thapar, vice-president, Asia Region, Exports Business Unit, Bajaj Auto, said, “The launch of the Chetak 3501 in Nepal reflects our expanding leadership in the electric two-wheeler sector beyond India. Designed for today’s youthful, tech-savvy riders, it merges the latest technological innovations with the timeless styling that Chetak is known for. We are thrilled to introduce this new dimension of electric-vehicle excellence to Nepal.”
Abhimanyu Golchha, director of Golchha Group, added, “We are proud to partner with Bajaj Auto for the all-new Chetak 3501’s first international launch. This milestone advances electric mobility in Nepal and strengthens our long-standing relationship with one of the world’s most trusted automotive brands. The Chetak 3501’s blend of smart technology, enduring craftsmanship and environmental responsibility will resonate with Nepalese riders and help drive a shift towards cleaner, more sustainable urban transport.”
The Chetak 3501 is available for booking at the authorised Chetak State of the Art Customer Experience Zone in Naxal, Kathmandu, priced at Rs 324,900. It will also be showcased at the NAIMA Auto Show, opening on August 6 at stall R3B.
In its 75-year history, Bajaj Auto has sold over 21 million motorcycles in more than 100 countries and is India’s leading motorcycle exporter, with two out of every three exported bikes bearing the Bajaj badge. The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of three-wheelers and the first two-wheeler maker to achieve a market capitalisation of INR 1 trillion.
