KATHMANDU: Nepalaya International Events, in collaboration with the Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) and the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation, Nepal (PABSON), has announced the National School Quiz Championship 2082, marking a new chapter in the country’s educational history. The competition will begin with district-level rounds on September 22 and conclude with a grand finale in Kathmandu from November 21 to November 23.
More than 5,000 schools from all 77 districts are expected to compete across three phases: district, provincial and national. The organisers describe the event as an educational campaign designed to enhance students’ knowledge, confidence and creativity, rather than merely a contest.
Both community and private schools may enter, ensuring equal opportunities for participants from urban and rural areas. Teams reaching the grand finale will also be offered educational opportunities, including scholarships.
Prizes include a scooter and gift hamper for the winners, a laptop and gift hamper for the first runner-up, and a mobile phone and gift hamper for the second runner-up. All finalists will receive certificates, trophies, medals and letters of appreciation, with special honours for the best quizmaster, the most effective organising district and outstanding students.
The competition will be presented as a television programme, with selected provincial and national rounds broadcast on television and digital platforms. The organisers hope the event will establish itself as a non-sporting platform for fostering national identity among Nepali students.
