KATHMANDU: The Republic of Peru’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Nepal, Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, has commended Nepal’s global leadership in eco-tourism, hydropower, and sustainable mountain development. Ambassador Paulinich Velarde stated that the country’s achievements have inspired the Andean community and laid the foundation for future cooperation.
The ambassador made this remark during an event held in Kathmandu to mark the 204th Independence Day of the Republic of Peru. Ambassador Paulinich said Nepal’s role is increasingly significant in the global pursuit of green innovation, infrastructure development, and renewable energy. He also expressed Peru’s interest in working with Nepal in agriculture, tourism, education, Ayurveda, and natural medicine, stressing the need to strengthen people-to-people ties to support these efforts.
The event was organised by the Honorary Consulate of Peru in Kathmandu. Consuls from various countries, as well as notable diplomatic and social figures, attended the event. Traditional Peruvian cuisine and attire were featured, highlighting Peru’s cultural heritage and encouraging exchange between the two nations.

Sumit Kumar Agarwal, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Peru for Nepal, also addressed the gathering and pledged to advance bilateral relations. Agarwal, who is Managing Director of MS Group, said, “Nepal and the Republic of Peru have a strong relationship, and we want to take our bilateral ties to new heights and encourage mutual prosperity.” He added that he would focus on promoting cooperation in investment, agriculture, tourism, trade, and technology transfer.
