KATHMANDU: Nepali logistics company Upaya has raised NPR 28 crore (USD 2 million) in a Series C funding round led by Dolma Impact Fund II, aimed at expanding its technology-driven logistics services nationwide.
The company is also in the process of closing an additional NPR 27 crore in a private round from friends, family, and acquaintances. Once finalised, the total funding raised in this round would reach NPR 55 crore, further strengthening Upaya’s position in Nepal’s logistics and supply chain sector.
Founded in 2019, Upaya started as a small digital platform in Kathmandu, connecting businesses, drivers, and customers. Today, it offers a full range of services including on-demand delivery, intercity and enterprise transport, third-party logistics (3PL), and door-to-door fulfilment. The platform now supports thousands of businesses and a growing network across Nepal.
The new investment will support the company’s expansion plans, including the development of its AI-powered logistics platform, setting up 200 new hubs and branches throughout Nepal, and contributing to the construction of a large-scale 3PL warehousing project.
“With this funding, we’re not only scaling our operations but also building an entire logistics ecosystem,” said Suman Rayamajhi, Co-founder and Managing Director of Upaya. “This includes rides, food, goods, and commerce—all integrated through technology. We also aim to take our platform to regional markets like Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and set an example for other start-ups in Nepal.”
To date, Upaya has raised over NPR 200 crore in funding. Dolma Impact Fund II, whose backers include international institutions such as FMO, British International Investment (BII), Swedfund, IFC, DFC, and JICA, has invested a total of NPR 71 crore in the company, making it Upaya’s most consistent financial partner.
Tim Gocher OBE, Founder and CEO of Dolma Fund Management, said:
“Upaya is helping to build Nepal’s logistics backbone. Their execution, local insight, and scalable technology are exactly what’s needed to drive long-term impact and sustainable development.”
Ranjeev Shrestha, Co-founder and Director of Upaya, added:
“From the beginning, Dolma’s support has helped us turn our ideas into reality. Their belief in our mission has allowed us to grow with confidence and stay true to our vision.”
Upaya’s operations are supported by a wide logistics network that includes two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and trucks. The company’s infrastructure features a Digital Transport Hub at Sanobharyang, Kathmandu (spanning 5 ropanis), and an 18,000+ sq. ft. fulfilment centre at Pepsicola, Kathmandu. It also operates seven regional offices, more than 55 support hubs, and over 350 drop-off locations nationwide.
The company is now preparing to build Nepal’s first large-scale third-party logistics warehouse on 19 ropanis of company-owned land in Sanga, Kavrepalanchowk. The facility, covering nearly 100,000 square feet, will significantly increase warehousing capacity and efficiency in the country.
Beyond Nepal, Upaya has partnered with Alliance Finance Corporation in Sri Lanka to roll out its logistics platform, “Delivered”, across the Colombo District, marking the company’s first regional expansion and a step toward becoming a South Asian logistics leader.
With strong investor backing, advanced technology, and nationwide infrastructure, Upaya continues to drive innovation in Nepal’s logistics sector—paving the way for smarter, faster, and more inclusive delivery systems.
