KABUL: The Afghan power company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has signed contracts worth about 41 million U.S. dollars to develop critical electricity infrastructure in western Herat province, the company said on Saturday.
The contracts encompass three key projects, including extending transmission lines and constructing substations, said the report.
Officials said that the projects, slated for completion within two years, will significantly enhance and stabilise Herat's electricity infrastructure.
Afghanistan faces a persistent power shortage, relying heavily on electricity imports from neighbouring countries.
